Hey Fellow Boomers. Yesterday, America's favorite TV Mom passed on, actress Barbara Billingsley of the Leave It To Beaver Show. For those of you in the first Boomer wave she is well remembered as the perfect stay home Mom. The year was 1957 and I was five years old. Surprising, very much the way I grew up in Cincinnati in my family. Many historians have made fun of the Fifties Mom's. However, one needs to remember that this generation of Mom's grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. Hunger was real and the country was close to becoming a Socialist state. During the War years, their fathers and brothers were being injured and killed on a two front war. The Fifties was a time that American Mom's wanted to offer something better to their kids and leave the bad memories behind.
Here's to you Mom, like my Mom. God bless and God speed on your journey.
