Boomers - Where Is The LoveHello Fellow Boomers. Last night President Obama addressed the nation for the annual State of the Union message. It made me think of the song many years ago called, "Where Is The Love". Maybe it should of been called "Where Is the Trust?"The President said last night "We face a deficit of trust". Yes, Mr. President at you and your administration. Trust is earned, not given freely. Integrity is doing what you say you are going to do. Without integrity there exists no trust. It reminds many of us Baby Boomers of the distrust of President Nixon during the dark days of the Vietnam War. So many of us distrusted our leaders, but for some reason many Boomers are putting their trust in our government again. Remember well, we are the People. The trust must lie with us. This is not a Republican or Democratic party issue, our basic foundation of government lies in the Constitution. We are Boomers and Americans must always be aware of individuals or groups who would compromise that trust - it is We the People! Denny Cincinnati

Nothing that Obama said or did shows that he has "heard" what the Tea Party attendees were saying. Americas don't want big government and they know that government only get's in the way of what they want to do in their lives. Harold
On the issue of Health Care, we need significant reform - in the "rules of the game" for insurers, in payment methodologies that give incentives for optimal, efficient and high quality care, but not "do anything at all costs" (which is where we are today for those who have insurance). Denny, remember the HMO ideas? We have lost these in recent years. Health care inflation has significantly outrun the general inflation rate since 1966. The US spends significantly more on health care than other western countries, without better health outcomes. And those other countries have some form of nationalized health care or health care financing.
YES, we need strong health care reform NOW.
President Obama has integrity, positive values that we value. He cannot make laws though, that is the role of the legislative branch. They are playing games. And we are sick of the partisanship. Lets let our congress-reps know that we expect them to use intelligence and their best judgment based on FACTS, rather than just sticking with rhetoric.
